Preliminary work

1. Remove engine compartment lid. -> 557819 Removing and installing engine compartment lid - section on "Removing" 557819 Removing and Installing Engine Compartment Lid
2. Remove rubber shroud -1-.
2.1. Loosen two screw-type clamps -2-.
2.2. Remove rubber shroud and clamps.

1. Convert the tool.
1.1. Remove the rubber tyre valve on the test adapter stopper 9264/6.
1.2. Metal valve 9264/9 can now be fitted.

2. Stopper 9264/6 and metal valve 9264/9 -arrow- must be fitted on the throttle housing.
2.1. Secure the rubber shroud with the original screw-type clamp -1-.

3. Connect conventional compressed air pressure gauge -2- to the test adapter -1-.
3.1. Build up overpressure of max. 0.8 bar in the intake system.
3.2. For simple leak detection, spray accessible joints with commercially available leak detection spray (e.g. TEGA test spray TPS 674). Bubbles will form if there are any leaks.
3.3. Leaks at more difficult-to-reach joints can be detected by clearly perceptible air-leak sounds.

4. Carry out the required repair work to seal any leaks you find and then repeat the leak test.
5. Remove pressure gauge and test adapter.

Subsequent work

1. Install engine compartment lid. -> 557819 Removing and installing engine compartment lid - section on "Installing" 557819 Removing and Installing Engine Compartment Lid
2. Install rubber shroud -1-.
2.1. Position rubber shroud and screw-type clamps on the throttle housing and mass air flow sensor.
2.2. Position and secure two screw-type clamps. Check accessibility of installation position.
=> Tightening torque: 3 Nm (2 ftlb.)
