Information
If the PCM unit is to be replaced with a new unit, the navigation data must be installed using a Software Update navigation CD/DVD.
- To enable you to actually install the Software Update navigation data, you must read out the enabling code from the PIWIS information system. Additional enabling codes, e.g. customer has navigation system for Europe and Russia, or customer has already obtained navigation updates, must be queried by customer service personnel at the customer site.
- The Software Update navigation CD/DVD is sent to every Porsche importer/Porsche dealer, who is registered to automatically receive special tools or PIWIS Tester releases.
- Each dealer receives one Software Update navigation CD/DVD, depending on the country.
- If additional Software Update navigation CDs/DVDs are required, e.g. if the customer needs both Europe and Russia, the CDs/DVDs can also be ordered via PET.
- The Software Update navigation CD/DVD must not be handed over to the customer. This CD/DVD can only be used with the PIWIS Tester 9718.
- The Software Update navigation CD/DVD that corresponds to the relevant vehicle model year must always be used for the required PCM unit, e.g. if the vehicle model year is 2009, the CD/DVD for 2009 must be used. This applies even if CDs/DVDs for 2010 are available.
- The model year-based Software Update navigation CD/DVD must always be archived in the Porsche Centre.
- Further changes/supplements to the Software Update navigation CD/DVD can also be obtained. These will have to be used later for older vehicles. For example, CDs/DVDs for 2010 are already available, but an error was found on the 2009 version, so the old CD/DVD for 2009 will have to be replaced with an updated CD/DVD for 2009. This process will be announced in a TI.
- Current compatibility with Bluetooth telephones can always be checked out at www.porsche.com.
