Preliminary work

Preliminary work - USA variant

1. Remove ignition key.
2. Remove luggage compartment trim -2-.
-> 700519 Removing and installing front luggage compartment trim .
2.1. Unscrew eight tapping screws -1-.

Preliminary work - RoW variant

1. Remove ignition key.
2. Remove front right wheel.
Socket-wrench insert 300 should be used.
-> 440519 Removing and installing wheel - section on "Removing" Removal and Replacement.
3. Remove rear part of front right wheel housing liner.
-> 505619 Removing and installing front wheel housing liner - section on "Removing" Service and Repair.

Removal

Removing carbon canister - RoW variant

1. Remove carbon canister.
1.1. Unscrew M6 collar nut -1-.
1.2. Carefully pull the carbon canister out of the mounting points on the body in direction of travel.
1.3. Release and pull off plug-in couplings -2- on the underside of the canister.
1.4. Unclip lines from the attachment points on the canister -3-.

Removing carbon canister - USA Version

1. Remove carbon canister holder.
Unclip cable plug on the canister -1- and then disconnect it.
1.1. Unscrew two M6 internal Torx screws -2- on the plastic holder and press the holder -3- out of the guide in direction of travel.

2. Remove carbon canister.
2.1. Lift up the carbon canister -arrow- , release the small plug-in coupling -2- and pull it down and off.

2.2. Lift up the carbon canister -arrow- , release the large plug-in coupling -1- and pull it down and off.

Installation

Installing carbon canister - RoW variant

1. Wet rubber sleeves with water. Press the canister into the bores on the body -1-.

2. Fit lines and secure carbon canister.
2.1. Fit plug-in couplings -2- on the underside of the canister and clip them onto the canister -3-.
2.2. . Fit and tighten M6 collar nut -1- on the holder. => Tightening torque: 10 Nm (7.5 ftlb.).

Installing carbon canister - USA variant

1. Install carbon canister.
1.1. Insert canister and connect the two plug-in couplings.

1.2. The plug-in couplings must lock with an audible click.
2. Fit the carbon canister holder.
2.1. Slide the plastic holder on the canister -3- into the guide and fix it in place at the plenum panel.
2.2. Screw in and tighten two M6 Torx screws -2-.
=> Tightening torque: 10 Nm (7.5 ftlb.)
2.3. Connect the cable plug and clip it into the cable guide on the canister -1-.

Subsequent work

Subsequent work - USA variant

1. Install luggage compartment trim -2-.
-> 700519 Removing and installing front luggage compartment trim .
1.1. Screw in eight tapping screws -1- by hand.

1. Remove rear part of front right wheel housing liner.
-> 505619 Removing and installing front wheel housing liner - section on "Removing" Service and Repair.
2. Fit front right wheel.
Socket-wrench insert 300 should be used.
