Preliminary work

1. Remove front engine compartment cover. For details, see => 700219 Removing and installing front trim (engine compartment) - section on "Removing"
2. Remove intake pipe. => 243519 Removing and installing air box for throttle housing on DFI engines (intake pipes upstream of throttle valve) - section on "Removing"

DANGER

The vehicle fans can continue running or start up automatically.

- Injuries which can lead to the loss of body parts.

-> The power supply to the fans must be disconnected before starting work on the radiator, radiator fans or belt drive. Disconnect the => fuse carrier or battery => Work instructions after disconnecting the battery
-> Allow engine to cool down.





Cooling fan housing (radiator frame)

1. Disconnect the electric plugs on the fans. -arrows-

2. Detach the cables from the clips on the radiator frame. Lay the cables aside. -arrows-

3. Loosen the coolant pipe on the radiator frame. To do this, remove two screws on the sheetmetal holders.
4. Release the catch springs at the left and right on the radiator module => View of catch springs when radiator has been removed and pull the frame up and out.

4.1. Press the coolant pipe to the engine and position it between the fans. Make sure the sheetmetal holders for the coolant pipe are far enough away from the radiator frame.

1. Slide the radiator frame from the top to the bottom along the radiator into the engine compartment.
1.1. Carefully lift the coolant pipe aside and guide the radiator frame in carefully.
1.2. Check that it is installed correctly. To do this, check that the catch springs at the left and right have engaged properly and that the four fastening projections on the underside have engaged in the plastic clamps. Then check that the hooks on the top of the radiator frame are seated correctly behind the edge of the radiator module.

NOTICE

Screws/bolts are too long

- Risk of irreparable damage to component

-> Always use screws/bolts of the same length when replacing the original screws/bolts.

2. Secure the coolant pipe on the radiator frame. To do this, align the coolant pipe and screw it on securely.
3. Join the two electric plugs at the top. -arrows-

4. Press the wire harness into the fastening clips. -arrows-

Subsequent work

1. Install intake pipe. => 243519 Removing and installing air box for throttle housing on DFI engines (intake pipes upstream of throttle valve) - section on "Installing"
2. Install front engine cover. => 700219 Removing and installing front trim (engine compartment) - section on "Installing"
