Removing hydraulic tappets
Information
- Observe the most important working regulations and warning notes => The most important working regulations and warning notes.
Information
- Rocker arms are joined to the hydraulic tappets with a safety clip.
- The safety clip must be handled carefully.
- If the hydraulic tappets are to be re-used, they must be marked according to installation position using a water-resistant felt-tip pen and set aside in such a way that they cannot be mixed up.
- If the hydraulic tappets are to be re-used, they must be installed at the same position.
- Rocker arms must be set aside in such a way that they cannot be mixed up.
1. Take rocker arms with hydraulic tappets out of cylinder head.
1.1. Rocker arms, complete with safety clip and hydraulic tappet, must be pulled out carefully => Installation position of rocker arm -1- and hydraulic tappet -2- without tilting them.

2. Check component arrangement. Check that components are complete and intact.
Defective or damaged components must be replaced. The safety clip is hooked into the front of the rocker arm -1- and into the support lever -2-.
Check the position of the valve pressure face with respect to the rocker arm during removal -3-.

Information
- When installing the camshafts, make sure that the rocker arms do not slip off the valve pressure face.
1. Assemble hydraulic tappet, rocker arm and safety clip.
1.1. Make sure that the hydraulic tappet and rocker arm are joined correctly with the safety clips -1 and 2-.

2. Oil the components. Install hydraulic tappet and rocker arm. Make sure that the safety clip does not slip out of place during installation.
2.1. The pressure face of the rocker arm -3- must be positioned on the valve pressure face. This can slip out of place during subsequent installation of the camshaft.
