Preliminary work

1. Disconnect the battery. => Work instructions after disconnecting the battery
2. Remove engine compartment covers at the right => 700219 Removing and installing front cover (engine compartment).

Removing exhaust manifold

1. Remove heat protection panel.





Heat protection panel mounting





1.1. Loosen the fastening screws -1-.
1.2. Remove the holder -2- and then remove the heat protection panel -3-.
1.3. Unclip oxygen sensor cable on the heat protection panel.
2. Remove exhaust manifold.





Removing and installing exhaust manifold





2.1. Unscrew all fastening nuts between the primary catalytic converter and exhaust manifold.
2.2. Push the primary catalytic converter to one side.
2.3. Remove all fastening screws on the exhaust manifold.
2.4. Remove exhaust manifold from studs on the cylinder head.

Installing exhaust manifold

1. Install exhaust manifold.





Exhaust manifold mounting





1.1. Clean sealing faces between the exhaust manifold and cylinder head.
1.2. Always replace seals.
1.3. Always replace fastening nuts and tighten to
=> Tightening torque: 25 Nm (19 ftlb.).
2. Install primary catalytic converter.
2.1. Clean sealing faces between the primary catalytic converter and exhaust manifold.
2.2. Always replace flange gaskets.
2.3. Always replace fastening nuts and tighten to => Tightening torque: 40 Nm (30 ftlb.).

3. Install heat protection panel.

3.1. Tighten fastening screws to => Tightening torque: 20 Nm (15 ftlb.).
4. Clip in oxygen sensor cable at the heat protection panel.

Subsequent work

1. Connect the battery.=> Work instructions after disconnecting the battery
2. Remove protective covers.
