Information

Preliminary work

1. Remove vibration balancer. -> 137619 Removing and installing vibration balancer (crankshaft pulley) on 4.8-litre DFI engines - section on "Removing"

1. Unscrew the four fastening screws and remove the cover with the sealing ring.

2. Clean the sealing surface of the sheetmetal cover.

WARNING

Risk of damaging the sealing ring due to assembly fault.

- Never pull the sealing ring from the plastic sleeve.
- Do not touch the sealing lip.
- Do not oil the sealing ring on the running surface.

-> Sealing lip can be damaged.

Information

- If the joint flange on the pulley or the surface on the crankshaft stub is slightly rusted, polish the rust off with a special polishing pad.

- If there is bad corrosion or deep grooves, replace these components.

1. Place seal with plastic sleeve across crankshaft.

2. Tighten the two upper fastening screws and then the lower fastening screws by hand. Tighten the screws crosswise to the specified torque (tightening torques -2 and 3- ).

3. Pull plastic sleeve straight off the joint flange.

1. Fit vibration balancer. -> 137619 Removing and installing vibration balancer (crankshaft pulley) on 4.8-litre DFI engines - section on "Installing"
