Removing air box for throttle housing (Y-shaped pipe ahead of throttle valve)
Naturally-aspirated engine =>
1. On naturally aspirated engine: Loosen the screw-type clamps and pull off intake pipes and Y-shaped pipe -3, 1 or 2 -.
Intake pipes
Turbo engines =>
2. On turbo engine: Disconnect boost pressure sensor. -1- (ignore 2 and 3)
Boost pressure sensor
3. Lever off clip under the Y-shaped pipe with a screwdriver. -arrow-
Line holder under Y-shaped pipe
1. Release both locking pins -2- on the Y-shaped pipe in a clockwise direction and pull them off. Pull Y-shaped pipe off the throttle housing.
Turbo pressure pipes ahead of throttle valve (US version shown)
1.1. Either release the clips on the plug-in connection -1- for the charge air cooler if necessary and pull the pressure pipes off the charge air cooler. Turn the Y-shaped pipe with pressure pipes fitted around and detach the control line -5- , which is clipped on.
1.2. Or loosen the screw-type clamps between the Y-shaped pipe and pressure pipes and turn the Y-shaped pipe around and detach the control line -5- , which is clipped on.
Installing air box for throttle housing (Y-shaped pipe ahead of throttle valve)
- The components are installed in reverse order to removal.
- Screw-type clamps => Tightening torque: 3.5 Nm (2.5 ftlb.)
- The clips on the pressure pipes must engage securely and click into place on the charge-air cooler connection pieces (check by pulling on the pipes).
