Transmission Cooler: Service and Repair

WM 386019 Removing and installing ATF cooler

Preliminary work for removing ATF cooler

1. Remove front apron. -> 631519 Removing and installing front apron - section on "Removing"
2. Remove cover for front underbody. -> 519219 Removing and installing cover for front underbody - section on "Removing" 519219 Removing and installing Cover For Front Underbody
3. Remove cooling fan housing. -> 192019 Removing and installing cooling fan housing (radiator frame) - section on "Removing" 192019 Removing and installing cooling fan housing (radiator frame)

Removing ATF cooler

1. Place collection pan underneath.

WARNING

Hot fluid

- Danger of scalding

-> Let the fluid cool down.
-> Wear personal protective gear.

2. Loosen ATF lines at the connection piece -arrow-.

3. Remove holder for ATF line.

4. Release tabs on the air guide.

5. Remove servo line holder.

6. Unscrew fastening screws -1- on holder for coolant cooler at the left and right.

7. Remove ACC sensor (if installed).
8. Remove holder for cooler.

9. Release ATF cooler from the retaining frame. Press the power-steering cooler aside while doing this.

10. Remove ATF line holder at the ATF cooler.

11. Remove ATF cooler between the air guide and frame.

Installing ATF cooler

1. Install ATF cooler between the air guide and frame.

2. Secure holder for ATF line on the ATF cooler.

3. Guide the ATF cooler into the retaining frame -A- and press it in -B-.

4. Replace sealing rings on the ATF lines.

5. Fit holder for cooler.

6. Install ACC sensor (if installed).
7. Lock tabs on the bottom of the air guide.

8. Screw in fastening screws on holder for coolant cooler -1- at the left and right.

9. Fit servo line holder.

10. Insert ATF lines into the connection piece and secure with the holder -arrow-.

11. Fit holder for ATF line.

Subsequent work for installing ATF cooler

1. Install cooling fan housing. -> 192019 Removing and installing cooling fan housing (radiator frame) - section on "Installing" 192019 Removing and installing cooling fan housing (radiator frame)
2. Install front apron. -> 631519 Removing and installing front apron - section on "Installing"
3. Remove cover for front underbody. -> 519219 Removing and installing cover for front underbody - section on "Removing" 519219 Removing and installing Cover For Front Underbody
4. Check and top up ATF. -> 370235 Checking and topping up ATF 370235 Checking and Topping Up ATF
