Installation position of hood frame

Information

Ensure that the assembly aid is seated firmly. The assembly aid must be recalibrated after removal. => 610115 Adjusting convertible top

1. Install the hood support.





Installing hood support

1.1. Position the hood support -1- on the body and on the assembly aid -arrow A-.
1.2. Insert the belt guide section -2- ( -arrow B- ).
1.3. Tighten fastening nuts -3- and fastening screws -4-. => Tightening torque: 23 Nm (17 ftlb.) => Tightening torque: 50 Nm (37 ftlb.)

Information

Use assembly grease when fitting the pins.

2. Install roof frame 2.

2.1. Insert bushing -1- into the bore on the outer side of the roof frame (2) -2-.
2.2. Position the roof frame (2) -2- on the hood support -3- ( -arrow- ) and join with the bolt -4-.
2.3. Secure the bolt -4- with the safety clip -5-.

Information

Use assembly grease when fitting the pins.

3. Install roof frame 3.

3.1. Insert bushing -1- into the bore on the inside of the roof frame (3) -2-.
3.2. Position roof frame (3) -2- on the hood support -3- ( -arrow- ) and join with the bolt -4-.
3.3. Secure the bolt -4- with the safety clip -5-.

Information

Do not replace plastic bushings individually, always replace all plastic bushings.

Information

Use assembly grease when fitting the pins.

4. Install roof frame 1.
4.1. Press plastic bushing -1- into the bore on the outside and inside of roof frame (2) -2- and roof frame (3) -3- ( -arrows- ).

4.2. Press plastic bushing -1- into the bore on the outside and inside of the roof frame (1) -2- ( -arrows- ).

NOTICE

Pins pressed in incorrectly

- Plastic bushings can break

-> The pins must only be pressed in by hand.

Use assembly grease when fitting the pins.

4.3. Position roof frame (2) -1- and roof frame (3) -2- on roof frame (1) -3- and join them with the bolt -4- and -5- ( -arrow- ).

4.4. Secure bolts -4- and -5- with the safety clip -6-.
4.5. Stick foam part -1- onto the sides of the roof frame (1) -2- ( -arrow- ).

5. Install main folding top bow.

5.1. Position main folding top bow -1- on the hood support -2-.
5.2. Position square hole washer -3- and standard washer -4- on the main folding top bow -arrow-.

Information

Coat the fastening screw -5- for the main folding top bow with Loctite 243.

5.3. Secure main folding top bow -1- with the fastening screw -5-. => Tightening torque: 9 Nm (6.5 ftlb.)
6. Install corner bow.

6.1. Press bushing -1- into the bore of the corner bow -2-.
6.2. Position corner bow -2- on the hood support -3-.
6.3. Press in anti-spread lock -4- and secure with the locking pin -arrow-
7. Install tension bow.

7.1. Press bushing -1- into the bore of the main folding top bow -2-.
7.2. Position tension bow -3- on the main folding top bow -2-.
7.3. Press in anti-spread lock -4- and secure with the locking pin -arrow-.
7.4. Install spacers for the tension bow.

7.4.1. Position spacers -1- on the tension bow -2- and rivet on with blind rivets -3-.
8. Install tension rope.

8.1. Press tension rope -1- into the ball head -2- of the tension bow -3- ( -arrow- ).
9. Install thrust wedge.

9.1. Position thrust wedge -1- on the inside of the main folding top bow -2- ( -arrow- ) and secure with the fastening screws -3-. => Tightening torque: 2.8 Nm (2 ftlb.)
10. Install guide rail for main folding top bow.

10.1. Position guide rail -2- on the inside of the main folding top bow -3- ( -arrow- ) and rivet on with the blind rivets -1-.
11. Install drive lever.

11.1. Position drive lever -1- on the main folding top bow -2- ( -arrow- ) and secure with the retaining clip -3-.
12. Install wire harness for hood. => 975519 Removing and installing wire harness for hood - section on "Installing"

Installing tension strap

1. Install tension strap on roof frame 1.

1.1. Position tension strap -1- on roof frame (1) -2- and secure with the fastening screws -3-.=> Tightening torque: 5 Nm (3.5 ftlb.)
2. Install tension strap on the corner bow.

2.1. Position tension strap -1- at the holes provided on the corner bow -2-.
2.2. Fold sewn-in foam strip -4- aside -arrow- and rivet on tension strap -1- with blind rivets -3-.
3. Install tension strap and bracing strap on the tension bow.

3.1. Position bracing strap -1- as shown.
3.2. Position tension strap -2- and bracing strap -1- at the holes provided on the tension bow -3- and rivet on with blind rivets -4-.

Installing spring plate

1. Guide the spring plate -1- through the tension strap -2- ( -arrow A- ) and press it into the main folding top bow -arrow B- until it engages securely.

1. Install plastic panel.

1.1. Insert fixing clip -1- into the tab on the plastic panel -2- from behind ( -arrow A- ) and turn 90° clockwise -arrow B-.
1.2. Position plastic panel -2- on roof frame (1) -3- ( -arrow C- ) and secure with the fastening screws -4-.=> Tightening torque: 5 Nm (3.5 ftlb.)
1.3. Stick felt tape -1- along the rear edge of the plastic panel -2- ( -arrows- ).

2. Install centering journal. => 611019 Removing and installing front hood mount - section on "Installing"

Installing styling frame

1. Install styling frame on roof frame 3.

1.1. Secure air deflector -1- on the back of the styling frame -2- with the fastening screw -3-.=> Tightening torque: 1.7 Nm (1.5 ftlb.)
1.2. Position styling frame -2- on roof frame (3) -4- and secure with the fastening screws -5- ( -arrow- ).=> Tightening torque: 1.7 Nm (1.5 ftlb.)
2. Install styling frame 2 on roof frame 2.

Information

Coat fastening screws 7 for styling frame 2 with Loctite 243.

2.1. Position styling frame (2) -1- on roof frame (2) -2-.
2.2. Adjust gap between styling frame (2) -1- and styling frame (3) -3- and secure with the fastening screws -4- and washers -5-. => Gap dimension: 3.1 mm+0.5 mm => Tightening torque: 10 Nm (7.5 ftlb.)
3. Install seal on styling frame (3).

3.1. Position aluminium profile -1- on styling frame (3) -2- and secure with the fastening screws -3- ( -arrow- ).=> Tightening torque: 1.7 Nm (1.5 ftlb.)
3.2. Insert seal -4- into the aluminium profile -1-.
4. Install seal on styling frame (2).

4.1. Position aluminium profile -1- on styling frame (2) -2- and secure with the fastening screws -3- ( -arrow- ).=> Tightening torque: 1.7 Nm (1.5 ftlb.)
4.2. Insert seal -4- into the aluminium profile -1-.
