Technical values






Preliminary work

1. Remove rear apron.
=> 635519 Removing and installing rear apron.
2. Remove rear silencer.
=> 263319 Removing and installing rear silencer - Turbo.
3. Remove engine carrier.
=> 103019 Removing and installing engine carrier - Turbo.

Removing vibration damper

1. Position vibration damper -2- for removal.
1.1. Use special tool turning device 9773 -1- to position the vibration damper (turn it clockwise) until a staking bore in the vibration damper is flush with the bore on the crankcase.
1.2. Stake the vibration damper using one of the locating pins 9595/1 -3-.
1.3. Loosen six external Torx screws (E12) M8 x 1 x 25 (fine thread) only slightly.





Positioning vibration damper for removal

2. Slacken the drive belt.
=> 137819 Removing and installing drive belt - Turbo.
3. Remove vibration damper.
3.1. Unscrew six external Torx screws (E12) M8 x 1 x 25 (fine thread) and remove the vibration damper.
3.2. Check dowel pin and vibration damper for damage (e.g. cracks, deformation) and replace components if necessary.
3.3. Replace screws.

Installing vibration damper

Information

- Replace screws for vibration damper.

- The screw thread and crankshaft flange thread must not be greased.

- Clean the thread on the crankshaft flange to remove grease.

1. Position vibration damper on the crankshaft flange. Check the position of the dowel pin.
2. Fit six external Torx screws (E12) M8 x 1 x 25 uniformly in diagonally opposite sequence.
3. Fit drive belt.
=> 137819 Removing and installing drive belt - Turbo.
3.1. Check that the drive belt is seated correctly on the pulleys.
4. Stake the vibration damper using one of the locating pins 9595/1 -3-.
4.1. Pre-tighten screws uniformly in diagonally opposite sequence according to tightening specifications.
=> Initial tightening: 10 Nm (7.5 ftlb.)
4.2. Final tightening using special tool electronic torque wrench, 2-100 Nm/1.5-74 ftlb.) 9768.
=> Torque angle: 90°+/-5°





Positioning vibration damper

Subsequent work

1. Install engine carrier.
=> 103019 Removing and installing engine carrier - Turbo.
2. Install rear silencer.
=> 263319 Removing and installing rear silencer - Turbo.
3. Install the rear apron.
=> 635519 Removing and installing rear apron.
