Draining engine oil

WARNING

Hot fluid

- Danger of scalding

-> Let the fluid cool down.
-> Wear personal protective gear.

Information

- Before pulling out the telescopic filler tube, always place a clean cloth over the drive belt and generator to absorb any drops of engine oil.

1. Place a clean cloth under the generator and drive belt. Pull telescopic filler tube -1- out as far as it will go.
1.1. Loosen the cover by turning it anti-clockwise.
1.2. Open the cover and clean the inside with a clean, lint-free cloth.

2. Unscrew the oil drain plug -1- at the oil pan (hexagon socket, a/f 8) and drain the engine oil into a suitable container.

2.1. Replace sealing ring.
3. After draining the engine oil, screw in the oil drain plug -1- with a new aluminium sealing ring -2-.
=> Tightening torque: 50 Nm (37 ftlb.)

4. If the cover -1- is damaged, it can be unclipped from the filler tube -arrow- and replaced.

Changing oil filter

Information

- Never use a sharp object to remove or fit the O-ring on the oil filter cover.

- Do not scratch the sealing surface of the oil-filter housing.

The oil filter -1- is located in the engine compartment:

1. Cover adjacent components with a cloth.
2. Loosen the oil filter cover at the hexagon (a/f 36) using a ratchet and socket-wrench insert.

3. Carefully remove the oil filter cover -2- and wipe off residual oil with a cloth -1-.
3.1. Lever off the old O-ring -3- on the filter cover using a plastic spatula.
3.2. Pull the filter element -4- out of the housing using a cloth and wrap it in the cloth.

4. Clean oil filter cover thoroughly inside and out.
4.1. Fit a new O-ring and grease lightly with Kluber Syntheso Glep (Part No. 000.043.204.68).
5. Clean the inside of the oil-filter housing with a clean, lint-free cloth.
6. Fit a new filter element (it can be fitted on either side).

7. First fit the oil filter cover by hand.
7.1. Tighten the oil filter cover to the specified torque.
=> Tightening torque: 25 Nm (19 ftlb.)

Filling in engine oil

1. Place a clean cloth over the generator and drive belt to catch any oil that overflows.

CAUTION

Incorrect oil level

- Damage to engine and catalytic converter.

-> Always observe specification for oil fill quantities.

Only use engine oils that have been tested and approved by Porsche AG.

- Dispose of waste oil in accordance with legal requirements in your country.

2. Slowly pour in new engine oil using a clean container -1- or a fuel nozzle -arrow-.
Observe the prescribed filling capacity!

Engine oil filling capacities:

=> Filling capacity with and without filter: 7.5 l

=> Filling capacity: 10.4 l
3. Close the cap -1- and fit it at the displayed position.

3.1. Carefully tighten the cap -1- by turning it clockwise as far as it will go.
The oil pan should be horizontal when the cap is closed.

4. Check engine-oil level.
