WM 875019 Removing and installing condenser

Technical values





Preliminary work

1. Drain refrigerant. -> 870317 Draining and filling refrigerant - section on "Draining" Service and Repair
2. Remove centre air guide. -> 192419 Removing and installing centre air guide - section on "Removing" Service and Repair

Removing condenser

WARNING

Refrigerant

- Danger of freezing

-> Avoid contact with refrigerant.
-> Wear personal protective gear.
-> Observe the safety regulations for working on air-conditioned vehicles and dealing with refrigerant.
-> Observe the safety regulations for extraction and filling systems.
-> Observe the instructions for repairing air conditioning systems and storing spare parts.





Installation position of condenser

1. Remove strut -3- under the radiator at the left. To do this, unscrew the two fastening screws -1+2-.

2. Unscrew the fastening screws on the air-conditioning lines at the condenser. Pull off the lines and close them off so that they are air-tight.

3. Lift both locks -6- for the cooler and air-conditioning condenser with a screwdriver and push them down.

4. Detach power-steering cooler -7- from the plastic frame and secure it to prevent it from falling down. Make sure that the lines are not deformed.
5. Disengage the condenser from the plastic frame and remove in a downward direction.

Information

Before re-installing the component, check the O-rings of the refrigerant lines for damage and replaced them if necessary.

Wet the O-rings of the refrigerant lines with refrigerant oil.

Do not open the plugs for the lines and connections until shortly before installation.

Close off all lines and connections using suitable plugs during removal.

1. Slide the condenser -5- into the plastic frame -8- with the ATF cooler -9- from below.

2. Engage the condenser -5- in the plastic frame -8-.
3. Position the plastic frame -8- on the cooler and clip in the two locks -6-.

4. Tighten the fastening screws -4- used to secure the air-conditioning lines to the condenser to => Tightening torque: 12 Nm (9 ftlb.)+/-1.5 Nm (+/-1 ftlb.).

5. Secure the strut -3- with the side fastening screw -1-.

Subsequent work

1. Install centre air guide. -> 192419 Removing and installing centre air guide - section on "Installing" Service and Repair
2. Fill in refrigerant. -> 870317 Draining and filling refrigerant - section on "Filling" Service and Repair
