Symptom
The menu item "Comfort press." can appear in the "Tyre pressure" main menu in the instrument cluster even though this menu item is not described in the Driver's Manual.
Cause, date of introduction and remedial action
Cause
Incorrect table for country coding in the instrument cluster.
Date of introduction
The instrument cluster is coded correctly from 23.04.2010 onwards.
Remedial action
In the event of a complaint in relation to a vehicle produced before the specified date of introduction, re-code the instrument cluster.
Tools and materials
- PIWIS Tester II 9818 with installed test software version 5.000 (or higher)
- Battery charger HFL 65 WE 1353 (charging current of at least 40 A)
Re-programming the instrument cluster
CAUTION

- Fault entries in the control unit
- Coding is aborted
-> Before commencing work, connect a suitable battery charger with a current rating of at least 40 A to the vehicle battery.
1. Connect the PIWIS Tester with installed test software version 5.000 (or higher) to the vehicle and switch on ignition.
2. Select Diagnostics menu => Vehicle.
3. Select 'Instrument cluster' control unit in the 'Control unit list' menu.
4. Select 'Coding/adaptations' in the menu bar.
5. Select 'Automatic coding' mode and press F12 to confirm.
=> Vehicle data is read out and coding is performed.
=> The message "Coding has been completed successfully" appears in the display header.
6. Press F12 to conclude coding.
7. Shut down the PIWIS Tester, switch off ignition and disconnect the Tester from the vehicle.
