Preliminary work

1. If a new control unit has to be installed, the values/coding must be read out using PIWIS Tester II 9818 prior to removing the "old" control unit. -> 903555 Replacing gateway control unit 903555 Replacing gateway control unit.

Removing gateway control unit

Information

Always comply with the regulations for handling ESD-sensitive components!

- Assembly work must only be carried out if the mechanic is wearing the working clothes and shoes approved by Porsche.

- The new part must only be removed from the ESD (electrostatic discharge) protective packaging just before installation and at the position at which the part is to be installed.

- Never touch the electric pins and plug contacts.

- Risk of damage to electrical load or to the control unit

-> Remove remote control and switch off ignition before disconnecting or removing electrical load.

1. Loosen the fuse box on the dashboard at the left and leave it hanging at the wire harness.
2. Unscrew two fastening nuts -1- for the holder on the dashboard bracket for the control units.

3. Remove the holder with the control units -arrow A-
4. Release electric plug connection -a- and unplug it from the control unit.

5. Unscrew two fastening screws -2- for the gateway control unit on the back of the holder and remove the control unit.

1. Position gateway control unit on the holder.
2. Secure the gateway control unit to the holder with the two fastening screws -2-.

3. Plug in electric plug connection for the gateway control unit and lock it -a-.

4. Position the holder on the dashboard bracket -arrow A- and secure with the two fastening nuts -1-.

5. Secure the fuse box to the dashboard.

Subsequent work

1. Install trim panel under dashboard on the left. -> 701919 Removing and installing trim panel under dashboard - section on "Installing" 701919 Removing and installing trim panel under dashboard
2. If the control unit was replaced, the "new" control unit must be adapted to suit the vehicle using PIWIS Tester II 9818. -> 903555 Replacing gateway control unit 903555 Replacing gateway control unit.
