Technical values





Preliminary work

1. Disconnect the battery. -> 2X00IN Work instructions after disconnecting the battery 2X00IN Work instructions after disconnecting the battery.

3. Loosen the front backrest cover at the outer side bolster. -> 741919 Removing cover for front backrest 741919 Removing and installing cover for front backrest

Removing side airbag

WARNING

Incorrect handling of airbag units

- Triggering of airbag unit
- System faults can occur

-> Switch off ignition and remove ignition key.
-> A voltage supply (e.g. battery charger) must not be connected to the external power supply/jump-lead starting terminals.
-> Disconnect the battery and insulate the ground strap so that all contact with a ground carrier is avoided.
-> Wait 1 minute after disconnecting the battery.
-> Only pull off connector on the triggering unit after the waiting time has elapsed.
-> Make sure that no foreign objects are located in front of the airbag unit during installation.
-> Replace damaged parts during removal.
-> Always position the airbag unit in such a way that the airbag opening is facing upwards.
-> If removed for an extended period, the airbag unit must be stored in a safe place.
-> Airbag units must not come into contact with grease, oil, detergents, liquids, or similar substances.
-> Do not expose airbag units to temperatures above 90°.
-> Do not remove the short-circuit spring on the plug-in contacts.
-> Ignition and preparations may only be carried out by skilled staff, supervised by a second responsible person.
-> Before disposal, the airbag unit must be rendered harmless by electrical ignition performed in accordance with all precautionary measures, thereby preventing it from being used incorrectly.

Information

If a new component (e.g. sensor, airbag control unit, airbag unit) of the airbag system has to be installed, the new component will be supplied with a barcode sticker (tear-off label).

- Tear off the tear-off label -2- on the new component -1- and stick it under the heading Proof of airbag system check/component replacement in the Guarantee and Maintenance booklet.

- The replacement date and mileage must be documented and the booklet must be stamped with the dealer's stamp.





Installation position of side airbag

1. Fold away padding for front backrest at the outer side bolster. -> 741719 Removing and installing padding for front backrest - section on "Removing" 741719 Removing and installing padding for front backrest
2. Unscrew fastening screw -2- on side airbag -1-.

3. Slide the side airbag -1- up out of the bracket -A- and remove it from the loop -3- ( -B- ).
4. Loosen the fixing clip -4-.
5. Loosen tie-wrap -1- on the seat wire harness and pull the line through the protective sleeve.

6. Loosen fixing clips -1- under the seat.

7. Pull line from side airbag to the backrest through.

Installing side airbag

1. Pull line through the backrest frame to the underside of the seat.
2. Pull line through the protective sleeve and fasten tie-wrap -1- on the seat wire harness.

3. Secure fixing clips -1- under the seat.

4. Secure fixing clip -4-.





Installing side airbag

5. Slide the side airbag -1- up into the loop -3- ( -A- ) and fit it into the bracket -B-.
6. Tighten the fastening screw -2- on the side airbag -1- to => Tightening torque: 9 Nm (6.5 ftlb.).
7. Fold back padding for front backrest at the outer side bolster. -> 741719 Removing and installing padding for front backrest - section on "Installing" 741719 Removing and installing padding for front backrest

Subsequent work

1. Secure the front backrest cover at the inner side bolster. -> 741919 Removing and installing cover for front backrest - section on "Installing" 741919 Removing and installing cover for front backrest.
2. Connect the battery. -> 2X00IN Work instructions after disconnecting the battery 2X00IN Work instructions after disconnecting the battery.
