Preliminary work

1. Remove rear apron. -> 635519 Removing and installing rear apron - section on "Removing"

NOTICE

Voltage peaks

- Risk of damage to load or to the control unit

-> Switch off ignition and remove remote control before disconnecting or removing load.





Installation position of wire harness for trailer hitch

1. Cut three tie-wraps -1-.

2. Open up the cover of the socket housing -1- and unscrew the three fastening screws -2-.

3. Push back the rubber sleeve -3- away from the socket housing in the direction of the arrow.

4. Release the three catches -4- on the socket housing -1- using a screwdriver and pull off the socket housing -A- in the direction of the arrow.

5. Guide the connector -5- and the rubber sleeve -3- through the cut-out in the trailer hitch.

6. Unscrew fastening screw -1- in the connector holder.

7. Release electrical plug connection at holder on both sides using a screwdriver -1- ( -a- ) and pull it off -B-.

8. Release electrical plug connection at trailer hitch control unit using a screwdriver -2- ( -a- ) and pull it off -B-.

9. Press rubber sleeve -3- outwards and pull through wire harness -4-.

10. Cut tie-wraps -5-.

Installing wire harness for removable trailer hitch

1. Guide the connector -5- and the rubber sleeve -3- through the cut-out in the trailer hitch in the direction of the arrow.

2. Insert the connector -5- into the socket housing -1- in the direction of the arrow until the connector engages securely.

3. Push the rubber sleeve -3- at the back onto the socket housing -1-.

4. Open up the cover of the socket housing -1- and insert the three fastening screws -2-.

5. Attach three tie wraps -1- at trailer hitch.

6. Attach tie-wraps -5- to bodyshell.

7. Press in wire harness -4- from the outside to the inside -arrow- and press in rubber sleeve -3-.

8. Insert electrical plug connection at holder -arrow- until the connector engages securely.

9. Insert electrical plug connections into the trailer hitch control unit -arrow- until the connectors engage securely.

10. Screw in fastening screw -1- in the connector holder. => Tightening torque: 9 Nm (6.5 ftlb.)
