Removing wiper motor

Information

- When the bonnet is open the wiper system is deactivated; only after closing the bonnet and switching the wiper system off and on again are the wipers reactivated.

- The wiper control unit is located in the wiper motor.

Information

Always comply with the regulations for handling ESD-sensitive components!

- Assembly work must only be carried out if the mechanic is wearing the working clothes and shoes approved by Porsche.

- The new part must only be removed from the ESD (electrostatic discharge) protective packaging just before installation and at the position at which the part is to be installed.

- Never touch the electric pins and plug contacts.

- Risk of damage to electrical load or to the control unit

-> Remove remote control and switch off ignition before disconnecting or removing electrical load.

1. Unclip engine wire harnesses from the three clips -1-.

2. Unscrew the fastening screws -2 and 3-.

3. Rotate complete wiper linkage at the front upwards and then to the left and remove it in an upward direction.
4. Release and pull off electric plug connection.

5. Unscrew fastening nut on the wiper motor -4-.

6. Mark the drive position of the wiper linkage -5-.

7. Disengage the drive.
8. Unscrew three fastening screws -6- and remove the wiper motor.

9. Remove wiper motor in a downward direction.

Installing wiper motor

Information

- If a new wiper motor is being installed, ensure that the correct Porsche original screws are used.

1. Before attaching wiper motor to wiper linkage, connect wiper motor to electric plug connection, close the bonnet, operate one-touch wipe at least once and let motor run to the end position. Disconnect plug connection again.
2. Switch off ignition and remove remote control from ignition lock.
3. Position wiper linkage with the marking -5- on the wiper shaft.

4. Screw in and tighten the three fastening screws -6- to => Tightening torque: 9 Nm (6.5 ftlb.).

5. Screw on and tighten fastening nut for wiper linkage -4- to => Tightening torque: 18 Nm (13 ftlb.).

6. Plug in electric plug connection until it engages securely.

7. Position wiper system. Insert wiper motor with linkage downwards, slide wiper linkage to the right, rotate it slightly and lay it down.

8. Check that the wiper motor is seated correctly.

Information

Observe the sequence of the five fastening screws in direction of travel.

- 1. Rear left.

- 2. Rear right.

- 3. Rear middle.

- 4. Front right.

- 5. Front middle.

9. Screw in fastening screws -3- for the wiper system and tighten to => Tightening torque: 9 Nm (6.5 ftlb.).

10. Screw in fastening screws -2- for the wiper system and tighten to => Tightening torque: 9 Nm (6.5 ftlb.).
11. Clip in engine wire harnesses at the three clips.
12. Before attaching wiper arms, the wiper motor must be operated a second time at least once using the one-touch wipe function and run to the end position. Close the bonnet to do this.

Subsequent work
