Preliminary work
1. Remove engine guard. -> 108019 Removing and installing engine guard 108019 Removing and installing engine guard
2. Drain engine oil. For details, see -> 170117 Changing engine oil and oil filter Removal and Replacement.
3. Remove front wire assembly from the oil pan for PDCC.

4. Remove front-axle carrier. Pay attention to the PDCC cable connections when doing so. -> 400619 Removing and installing front-axle carrier 400619 Removing and installing front-axle carrier. Engine carrier remains fitted on the longitudinal members.

Removing oil pan
1. Remove all screws from the oil pan. Remove oil pan.

2. If the seal is damaged when removing the oil pan or if the seal was leaking, the entire oil pan must be replaced. Otherwise the oil pan with the vulcanised seal can be reused.
Installing oil pan
Information
- The tightening specifications for the basic engine are stored centrally. -> 1001IN Tightening torques, tightening sequences, assembly overviews [1][2]Specifications. Tightening torques and assembly instructions for other assemblies (e.g. chassis, electrics, transmission or body) or for peripheral engine equipment can be found in the corresponding documents.
1. Clean and de-grease sealing surfaces on the oil pan and oil guide housing.
2. Position oil pan and screw in screws by hand. Align oil pan and tighten.

Subsequent work

2. Fit front wire assembly to the oil pan for PDCC.
