Preliminary work

1. Remove the wheel. -> 440519 Removing and installing wheel - section on "Removing" Removal and Replacement

Tie rod (toe control arm)

1. Mark the position of the eccentric screw -3- on the tie rod -1- for re-installation -2-.

2. Release tie rod at suspension subframe (eccentric screw) and at wheel carrier. Pull out tie rod.

To make removal easier, raise wheel carrier slightly with universal jack! => Tie rod assembly aid (shown as an example) Use a rubber base to prevent the wheel carrier from slipping!

Installing rear tie rod (toe control arm)

Information

- All screws and bolts on the axle must be tightened in vehicle position. Vehicle position means: vehicle standing on its wheels, or the wheel suspension is raised with a universal vehicle lift. Dimension -X- , from lower edge of wing to centre of axle corresponds to vehicle position. For the current height values, please refer to the adjustment values for suspension alignment -> 4495TW Adjustment values for suspension alignment 4495TW Adjustment values for suspension alignment.

- Visually inspect all parts.

- Replace self-locking nuts.

- Replace all expansion screws (screws fitted using torque angle tightening procedure).

- Use correct tightening torques and torque angle. -> 4X00IN Tightening torques for rear axle 4X00IN Tightening torques for rear axle

Installation is carried out in reverse order.
1. Replace lock nuts. Observe the specified tightening torques -> 4X00IN Tightening torques for rear axle - section on "Installing" 4X00IN Tightening torques for rear axle.

Subsequent work

1. Fit wheel. -> 440519 Removing and installing wheel - section on "Installing" Removal and Replacement
