Preliminary work

1. Remove front cardan shaft. -> 390219 Removing and installing front cardan shaft 390219 Removing and Installing Front Cardan Shaft
2. Drain oil for transfer gear. -> 399055 Changing oil for transfer gear Service and Repair

Removal

Removing sealing ring for transfer gear

1. Lever off the dust boot -1- using a mounting lever -2-.

2. Pierce a hole in the centre of the sealing ring using a mandrel.

Information

- Do not damage the drive shaft sealing face.

- Do not screw tapping screw in too far to avoid damaging the bearing behind it.

3. Screw in tapping screw with a diameter of 4 mm -arrow-.

4. Pull out sealing ring using puller T10055.

Installation

Installing sealing ring for transfer gear

1. Lightly oil the outer circumference of the new shaft sealing ring.
2. Half-fill the space between the sealing and dust lips with sealing grease.
3. Tap the sealing ring in as far as it will go using thrust piece T10449. Do not bend the sealing ring. => Installing sealing ring

4. Tap new dust boot -1- in until it locks onto the shaft using assembly tool T10399.

5. Replace O-ring -1- and circlip -2-.

Subsequent work

1. Install front cardan shaft. -> 390219 Removing and installing front cardan shaft 390219 Removing and Installing Front Cardan Shaft
2. Fill in oil for transfer gear. -> 399055 Changing oil for transfer gear Service and Repair
