Preliminary work

1. Remove switch console. -> 962719 Removing and installing switch console - section on "Removing" 962719 Removing and installing switch console
2. Release the selector lever cable at the transmission. -> 371519 Removing and installing selector lever cable - section on "Removing" Service and Repair

Removing selector support

Information

Mark position N on the selector support and check this during reinstallation.

1. Shift the selector lever to position N.
2. Unclip fixing clip -2- on wire harness for selector support from the centre console -1- ( -arrow- ).

3. Release electric plug connection -1- for the selector support -a- and pull it off -arrow-.

4. Unscrew fastening screws -2- for the selector support -3- from the centre console -1-.

5. Pull the selector support as far as possible out of the centre console.
6. Remove the clamp -1- on the selector lever cable connection -A-.

NOTICE

The fastening screw for the selector lever cable must not be loosened by more than one turn.

- The selector support must be replaced.

-> The fastening screw for the selector lever cable must not be loosened by more than one turn. Otherwise, the screw will fall into the selector support.

7. Loosen the fastening screw in opening -3- next to the emergency release -4- for connecting the selector lever cable -2- and selector support -1- by 180° using a hexagon-socket wrench.

8. Remove the selector support.

Installing selector support

Information

Mark position N on the selector support and check this during reinstallation.

1. Guide the selector cable into the selector support.
2. Lock the clamp -1- on the selector lever cable connection -A-.

3. Tighten the fastening screw in the small opening -3- next to the emergency release -4- for the selector cable -2- on the selector support -1- to => Tightening torque: 10 Nm (7.5 ftlb.).

4. Tighten fastening screws -2- for the selector support -3- in the centre console -1- to => Tightening torque: 10 Nm (7.5 ftlb.).

5. Plug in electric plug connection on selector support -1- ( -arrow- ) and lock it -a-.

6. Secure fixing clip -2- on wire harness for selector support to the centre console -1-.
