Technical values





Preliminary work

1. Remove engine compartment lid. -> 557819 Removing and installing engine compartment lid - section on "Removing".
2. Remove resonance tube. -> 247419 Removing and installing resonance tube - section on "Removing" Service and Repair.
3. Remove intake-air distributor for cylinder bank 4-6. -> 244619 Removing and installing intake-air distributor - section on "Removing" Service and Repair.
4. Remove fuel connection line. -> 249019 Removing and installing fuel connection line - section on "Removing".

CAUTION

Hot components

- Risk of burns

-> Let hot components cool down.
-> Wear personal protective gear.

Information

Specifications for wrench sizes (a/f specifications) for screw heads are described as follows:

- Torx screws: (E.) for external Torx, (T.) for internal Torx.

- Hexagon-head bolts (internal and external hexagon): Wrench size (a/f)

1. Remove coolant and hydraulic hoses on the oil/water heat exchanger.
1.1. Clamp off coolant and hydraulic hoses.

WARNING

Hot fluid

- Danger of scalding

-> Let the fluid cool down.
-> Wear personal protective gear.

1.2. Loosen spring band clamps -1- and pull off hoses.
1.3. Use cloths to collect emerging fluid.

2. Close off hoses and hose connections on the oil/water heat exchanger with stoppers.
3. Close off or cover adjacent areas and cavities with cloths.
4. Unscrew six internal Torx screws (T30, M6 x 35) -1- and -1-.

5. To make your own drip tray from a clean canister, cut out the bottom or side section and slide it under the oil/water heat exchanger -1-.

6. Remove oil/water heat exchanger -1- and drip tray in an upward direction.

7. Remove old O-rings.
7.1. Clean oil/water heat exchanger -1- and oil cooler bracket.
Never clean these components in a parts washing machine!
Clean with a clean, lint-free cloth.

Installing oil/water heat exchanger

Information

Always replace gaskets and O-rings.

- Grease all gaskets (except for the cooling system) with Kluber Syntheso Glep (Part No. 000.043.204.68).

1. Fit new O-rings.
2. Fit oil/water heat exchanger.
2.1. Carefully position the oil/water heat exchanger on the oil cooler bracket.
2.2. Fit and tighten six internal Torx screws (T30, M6 x 35) -1- and -1- uniformly.

3. Fit coolant and hydraulic hoses.
3.1. Position and secure spring band clamps -1-.
3.2. Remove hose clamps.

4. Remove cloths.

Subsequent work

1. Install fuel connection line. -> 249019 Removing and installing fuel connection line - section on "Installing".
2. Install intake-air distributor for cylinder bank 4-6. -> 244619 Removing and installing intake-air distributor - section on "Installing" Service and Repair.
3. Install resonance tube. -> 247419 Removing and installing resonance tube - section on "Installing" Service and Repair.
4. Check engine coolant level and top up if necessary. -> 193817 Draining and filling coolant - section on "Filling" Service and Repair.
5. Check the engine oil level and top up if necessary.-> 170101 Checking engine oil level - section on "Checking and topping up" Procedures.
6. Check the power-steering fluid level and top up if necessary.-> 48020150 Checking power-steering fluid level - section on "Checking and topping up" Testing and Inspection.
