Receiver Dryer: Service and Repair

Preliminary work

1. Drain refrigerant. -> 870317 Draining and filling refrigerant - section on "Draining" Service and Repair
2. Remove condenser. -> 875019 Removing and installing condenser - section on "Removing" Service and Repair

Refrigerant

- Danger of freezing

-> Avoid contact with refrigerant.
-> Wear personal protective gear.
-> Observe the safety regulations for working on air-conditioned vehicles and dealing with refrigerant.
-> Observe the safety regulations for extraction and filling systems.
-> Observe the instructions for repairing air conditioning systems and storing spare parts.

Information

- The dryer is in the capacitor, on the right-hand side.

- Two people are needed to remove the dryer.





Installation position of dryer

1. Unscrew rubber sleeve on the condenser and pull it up and off.

2. Screw the puller T10055 -1- into the stopper -2- ( -arrow A- ) and press it down -arrow B-.

3. Use the circlip pliers Nr.70 to remove the Seeger ring -B-.

4. Screw the puller T10055 into the stopper and pull it up and out.

5. Lift dryer out in an upward direction.

Installing dryer

Information

- The dryer must be replaced if the system suffers from operational faults (e.g. accident damage or air-conditioning system depressurised)!

- Used refrigerant oil extracted from a previously run A/C unit must not be re-used!

- Two people are needed to install the dryer.

1. Replace the O-ring on the stopper and coat it with refrigerant oil.
2. Slide the dryer into the condenser using the plastic spacer rings. Make sure that the plastic spacer rings engage and the dryer is not seated too low.

3. Fit the stopper and screw in the puller T10055.
4. Press the stopper down with the puller T10055.

5. Fit the circlip using the circlip pliers Nr.70.

6. Place rubber cap on the stopper and screw it in.

Subsequent work

1. Install condenser. -> 875019 Removing and installing condenser - section on "Installing" Service and Repair
2. Fill in refrigerant. -> 870317 Draining and filling refrigerant - section on "Filling" Service and Repair
