Preliminary work

1. Raise the vehicle. -> 4X00IN Lifting the vehicle Service and Repair
2. Remove wheel. -> 4X00IN Lifting the vehicle Service and Repair
3. Bleed the corresponding air spring using the PIWIS Tester II 9818. -> 4301IN Bleeding and filling levelling system 4301IN Bleeding and filling the levelling system
4. Remove vibration damper. -> 429319 Removing and installing rear shock absorber (spring damper) 429319 Removing and installing rear shock absorber (spring damper)

Air spring component

1. Disconnect air spring connections -arrows- and close them off using suitable plugs.

2. Unhook level sensor linkage. -> 431955 Replacing rear level sensor 431955 Replacing rear level sensor
3. Carefully unclip locking lugs -arrows- and press the air spring upwards.

4. Unclip air spring at top and remove it -direction arrow-.

Installing air spring

1. Installation is carried out in reverse order. Use centring aids 9828 to install the air spring.

Subsequent work

1. Fit vibration damper. -> 429319 Removing and installing rear shock absorber (spring damper) 429319 Removing and installing rear shock absorber (spring damper)
2. Fill the corresponding air spring using the PIWIS Tester II 9818. -> 4301IN Bleeding and filling levelling system 4301IN Bleeding and filling the levelling system
3. Fit the wheel. -> 4X00IN Lifting the vehicle Service and Repair
