Removing front lid seal
Information
- During removal, the seal must not come into contact with hot engine components or adjacent units. This can cause damage to the seal.
1. Remove front profile seal -1-.

1.1. Open the lid.
1.2. Pull the ends of the front profile seal -1- back off the retaining lugs. -A-
1.3. Carefully pull the front profile seal -1- off the retaining flange.
1.4. Remove front profile seal -1- towards the engine. -B-
2. Remove rear profile seal -1-.
Removing rear profile seal
2.1. Lift up foam corner pieces at the ends of the profile seal.
2.2. Pull the ends of the rear profile seal -1- up and off.
2.3. Remove rear profile seal.
Installing front lid seal
Information
- Before replacing, check the existing seal for signs of damage (areas torn, crushed, etc.). If there are signs of damage, the seal must be replaced.
- The seal is pressed onto the flange without any additional sealants.
- During installation, the seal must not come into contact with hot engine components or adjacent units. This can cause damage to the seal.
1. Install rear profile seal -1-.
Installing rear profile seal
1.1. Position rear profile seal -1- on the end plate.
1.2. The side lip -2- is facing away from the direction of travel.

1.3. Align the rear profile seal so that it is centred on the plenum panel.
1.4. Press the rear profile seal onto the cowl panel, starting at the centre. -A-
1.5. Press the rear profile seal on evenly from the bends to the ends. -B- The profile seal must not be stretched or deformed in the process.
1.6. The two ends must be flush with the end of the cowl panel on both sides.
1.7. Press the foam corner pieces onto the rear profile seal.
2. Install front profile seal -1-.
Installing front profile seal
2.1. Pull the ends of the front profile seal -1- over the retaining lugs -2-.
2.2. Press the lugs, which are in the groove on the front profile seal, into the cut-outs in the flange -arrow-. -A-
2.3. Press the front profile seal, starting from the ends as far as the points ->|<- , onto the flange. -B-
2.4. Press the remaining centre section of the front profile seal evenly onto the flange. -C- The front profile seal must not be stretched or deformed in the process.
3. Check that the two profile seals are fitted correctly.
3.1. The profile seals must not be stretched or deformed at any point.
3.2. The profile seals must be fitted securely on the flanges, particularly in the bends.
3.3. The ends of the front profile seal must not become detached from the retaining lugs.
