Checking the Injectors

Checking the Injectors

Tools:
- Multimeter Breakout Box 86 11 006
- Test cables 8611 410 and 8611 352

Before starting work, unplug the LH control module and mass air flow sensor connectors.

1 Connect the Breakout Box. Take resistance readings across:
LH 2.2 -M1988
pin 13 and pin 4 of connector 67
LH 2.2 M1989-1990
pin 13 and pin 9
LH 2.4, 2.4.1, 2.4.2
pin 18 and pin 9

The readings obtained should be 4 ohms in each case.

If the readings obtained are not OK, check the resistance of each injector separately.

2 Unplug the injector connector. Connect the multimeter to the injector to check its resistance. An injector in perfect working order should have a resistance of 16 ohms at 20°C (68°F).

If this resistance reading is not obtained, change the injector.

3 If correct resistance readings are obtained, check the wiring from pin 13 (LH 2.2) or pin 18 (LH 2.4, 2.4.1, 2.4.2) of the control module connector to the following injector connections:

LH 2.2 -M1988
take a reading between the injector and connector 67
LH 2.2 M1989-1990
take a reading between the injector and pin 9
LH 2.4, 2.4.1, 2.4.2
take a reading between the injector and pin 18.
