Pressure sensor malfunctioning



Fault symptom

The car runs on basic boost pressure only.


Diagnostic procedure




1 check the vacuum hose

- Inspect the vacuum hose between the pressure sensor and intake manifold for damage and leaks.

- Also make sure that the hose is not pinched or clogged.

Is the vacuum hose OK?
YES Continue with point 2.
NO Rectify the fault and continue with point 3.

2 Check the power supply

- Ignition switch in ON position.

- Unplug the pressure sensor's connector.

- Take a voltage reading across pin 3 of the connector and a good grounding point.

- The correct value is about 5 V.

- Across pins 3 and 2.

- The correct value is about 5 V.

Are the test readings correct?
YES Continue with point 3.
NO Rectify the lead in question and proceed to point 4.




3 Check the pressure sensor

- Ignition switch in ON position.

- Select command 320 with the ISAT scan tool.

- The scan tool display should show 80051 (5.1 V).

- Connect a jumper lead between pins 1 and 2.

- The scan tool display should now show 80000 (0 V).

Are the readings OK?
YES Change the pressure sensor and continue with point 4.
NO Rectify the lead in question and proceed to point 4.

4 Final check

- Clear the diagnostic trouble code.

- Implementation of driving cycle:
Drive the car at varying engine loads and rpm for 5 minutes.

- Evaluation of driving cycle:
Check whether the diagnostic trouble code recurs.

Does the diagnostic trouble code recur?
YES Continue with "Before Control Module Replacement". Service and Repair
NO The steps taken to rectify the fault were correct.
