P1246
DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES P1246, P1247
Intake manifold adjustment, inner flap, control module output, no continuity or shorting to ground/batt+
Fault Symptom.
Performance down.
Condition
In the event of a short circuit or open circuit a diagnostic trouble code will be generated.
Diagnostic Procedure.
1. Connect the Scan Tool.
Ignition switch in the ON position.
Select "VARIABLE INDUCTION".
Select "INNER FLAP". This command activates the valve at a frequency of 0.5 Hz for 30 seconds.
Listen for the sound of the solenoid valve operating.
If the valve clicks, proceed to step 3.
If it does not, continue with step 2,
2. Unplug the valve's 2-pin connector.
Carry out the following checks:
^ Connect the test lamp across pin 2 of the female connector and a good ground.
- The test lamp should light up when the ignition switch is in the ON position.
If it does not, check the lead between pin 2 of the female connector and crimped connection J128.
^ Connect the test lamp across pins 1 and 2.
Select "VARIABLE INDUCTION".
Select "INNER FLAP".
- The test lamp should flash.
If it does not or if it lights up and stays on, check the lead between pin 1 of the female connector and pin 6 of the control module for continuity/shorting.
If the lead is OK, continue at "Procedure Before ECM Replacement" where further diagnostic procedure is described. Component Tests
If the test lamp flashes, check the resistance of the valve.
Measure the resistance across pins 1 and 2 of the valve's connector.
- The resistance should be 40 ± 5 ohm at 20°C.
If it is not, fit a new solenoid valve.
3. Clear the diagnostic trouble code and drive the car to see whether the DTC is generated again.
If the diagnostic trouble code is generated again, continue at "Procedure Before ECM Replacement". Component Tests
If the trouble code is not generated again the remedial measure taken was correct, otherwise the fault is of intermittent type.
