FUEL TANK, LOW LEVEL





Fault Symptoms
None

Conditions.
There is less than 10 litres of fuel in the tank when one of the following diagnostic trouble codes is generated:
^ P0300
^ P0301 - P0306

Diagnostic Help.
Diagnostic trouble code P1585 does not indicate a fault in the literal sense.
If there is less than 10 litres of fuel in the tank and a fault occurs which could be due to a low fuel level, diagnostic trouble code P1585 will be generated to indicate the cause and so prevent unnecessary fault
diagnosis.

Check The Wiring.
Intermittent faults may occur as a result of temporary short circuits and breaks in the wiring. Jiggle the wiring at several points and in different directions to ascertain whether the wiring harness, including any connectors, is causing the trouble. Observe the multimeter, ISAT scan tool or test lamp while doing this.





Diagnostic Procedure.
1. Check additional diagnostic trouble codes in the Motronic system
- Use an ISAT scan tool to obtain readouts of all diagnostic trouble codes.

When any of the following diagnostic trouble codes is generated, the reason is probably because the fuel level was low at the time.

^ P0300
^ P0301-P0306

2. Perform a final check for the relevant diagnostic trouble code.
