DTC 16
DIAGNOSTIC CHARTDiagnostic Chart:
Diagnosis
Fuel injector does not function.
Harness connector between ECM and each injector is shorted or open.
Trouble Symptom
Engine stalls, poor idle, poor driveability.
CHECK OPERATION OF EACH INJECTOR
While cranking engine, check that each injector emits an "operating" sound. Use a soundscope or long screwdriver for this check.
CHECK POWER SUPPLY TO INJECTORS
Voltage Supply Test:
1. Turn ignition OFF.
2. Unplug connectors from each injector.
3. Turn ignition ON.
4. Measure voltage between each injector connector terminal and body.
Connector & Terminal Voltage
#1 (E7) 2 - body 10 V min.
#2 (E17) 2 - body 10 V min.
#3 (E8) 2 - body 10 V min.
#4 (E18) 2 - body 10 V min.
CHECK EACH INJECTOR
Resistance Test:
Measure resistance between injector terminals.
Connector & Terminal Resistance
No. 1 - 2 11 - 12 ohms
CHECK HARNESS CONNECTOR BETWEEN ECM AND EACH INJECTOR
Harness Test:
1. Unplug ECM connector.
2. Measure resistance of harness connector between ECM connector and each injector.
Connector & Terminal Resistance
(E30) 2 - (E7) 1 10 ohms max.
(E30) 1 - (E17) 1 10 ohms max.
(E30) 13 - (E8) 1 10 ohms max.
(E30) 12 - (E18) 1 10 ohms max.
