DIAGNOSTIC CHART

Diagnostic Chart:

Diagnosis
Purge control solenoid valve does not function.
Harness connector between ECM and purge control solenoid valve is shorted or open.

Trouble Symptom
Poor idle quality.

CHECK INPUT SIGNAL FOR ECM

Input Signal:

1. Turn ignition ON.
2. Measure voltage between ECM connector terminal and body.

Connector & Terminal Voltage
(E30) 19 - body 10 - 13 V

CHECK PURGE CONTROL SOLENOID VALVE

1. Turn ignition OFF.
2. Remove solenoid valve.
3. Measure resistance between solenoid valve terminals.

Terminals Resistance
No. 1 - 2 36 ohms @ 68°F (20°C)

CHECK POWER SUPPLY TO PURGE CONTROL SOLENOID VALVE

Voltage Test:

1. Turn ignition ON.
2. Measure voltage between solenoid valve connector and body.

Connector & Terminal Voltage
(E6) 1 - body 10 V min.
