DTC P0444: Evaporative Emission Control System Purge Control Valve Circuit Open
Wiring Diagram
DTC Detecting Condition and Trouble Area
DTC Confirmation Procedure
1) With ignition switch OFF, connect scan tool to DLC.
2) Turn On ignition switch and clear DTC using scan tool.
3) Start engine and run engine at idle speed (600 rpm or more) for 1 minute with all electric loads turned OFF.
4) Check DTC and pending DTC.
DTC Troubleshooting
WARNING:
In order to reduce risk of fire and personal injury, this work must be performed in a well ventilated area and away from any open flames such as gas hot water.
1.
Was "Engine System Check" performed?
YES
Go to Step 2.
NO
Go to Engine System Check Engine System Check.
2. Check EVAP canister purge power supply circuit.
Turn OFF ignition switch, disconnect connector from EVAP canister purge valve.
Measure voltage between engine ground and "BLK/RED" wire terminal in EVAP canister purge valve harness.
Is it voltage 10 - 14 V?
YES
Go to step 3.
NO
"BLK/RED" wire open circuit.
3. Check wire circuit.
Disconnect connector from ECM with ignition switch turn OFF.
Measure resistance between "C46-6" terminal in ECM harness connector and vehicle body ground.
Is resistance infinity?
YES
Go to Step 4.
NO
"BLU/BLK" wire shorted to ground circuit.
4. Check wire circuit.
Measure voltage between "C46-6" terminal in ECM harness connector and vehicle body ground.
Is voltage 0 V?
YES
Go to Step 5.
NO
"BLU/BLK" wire shorted to others circuit.
5. Check wire circuit.
Connect connector to purge control valve with ignition switch turned OFF.
Turn ON ignition switch, measure voltage between "C46-6" terminal in ECM harness connector and vehicle body ground.
Is it voltage 10 - 14 V?
YES
Go to Step 6.
NO
"BLU/BLK" wire open circuit.
6. Check EVAP canister purge control valve.
Check EVAP canister purge control valve referring to EVAP Canister Purge Valve Inspection EVAP Canister Purge Valve Inspection.
Is it good condition?
YES
Go to Step 7.
NO
Faulty EVAP canister purge control valve.
7. Check EVAP canister purge control circuit.
With ignition switch turn OFF, measure resistance between "G04-8 (or G04-23)" terminal wire and "C46-6" terminal in ECM harness connector.
Is resistance below 40 ohms at 20 °C, 68 °F?
YES
Faulty ECM, substitute a known-good ECM and recheck.
NO
"BLK/RED" and/or "BLU/BLK" wire in high resistance circuit.
