Contact Coil Cable and Its Circuit Check

Circuit Diagram

Troubleshooting

1. Driver air bag (inflator) module circuit check

Remove driver air bag (inflator) module from steering column. Removal and Installation
Disconnect "G11" connector.
Release shorting bar in SDM connector inserting release tool included in special tool (A).
Check the following points.
- Resistance between "G11-3" and "G11-4" terminals: infinity
- Resistance between "G11-5" and "G11-6" terminals: infinity
Special Tool

(A): 09932-76010

Are they in good condition?
YES -
Go to Step 2.
NO -
Check defective wire harness. If OK, replace contact coil assembly. Steering Wheel and Column Components

2. Contact coil circuit (driver air bag (inflator) module circuit) check

Remove contact coil assembly. Steering Wheel and Column Components
Measure resistance between "S121-1" to "S172-3", "S121-2" to "S172-4", "S122-1" to "S172-2" and "S122-2" to "S172-1" terminals.
Special Tool

(A): 09932-76010

Is resistance 1 ohms or less?
YES -
Go to Step 3.
NO -
Replace contact coil assembly. Steering Wheel and Column Components

3. Contact coil circuit (horn circuit) check

Check if there is connection between "S61-4" and "S171-4" terminals of contact coil.

Is resistance 3 ohms or less?
YES -
Go to Step 4.
NO -
Replace contact coil assembly. Steering Wheel and Column Components

4. Contact coil circuit check

Measure resistance between each terminal of contact coil and other terminals.

Is each measured resistance infinite?
YES -
Contact coil and its circuit are in good condition.
NO -
Replace contact coil assembly. Steering Wheel and Column Components
