Removal and Replacement
Wheel (with Tire) Removal and Installation
Removal
1) Loosen wheel nuts by approximately 180° (half a rotation).
NOTE:
Using heat to loosen a tight wheel for removal may shorten the life of the wheel and damage the wheel bearings.
Never use heat to try to loosen a wheel for removal.
2) Hoist vehicle.
3) Remove wheel with tire.
Installation
Wheel nuts must be tightened in sequence and to proper torque to avoid bending wheel or brake drum or disc as shown in the figure.
WARNING:
If there is any buildup of corrosion on the mounting surfaces of the wheel and brake drum / disc, the wheel nuts may work loose and the wheel may fall off the axle. This could lead to an accident.
Remove any buildup of corrosion from the mounting surfaces of the wheel and brake drum / disc.
NOTE:
- Use the specified tire and wheel with tire pressure sensor for the vehicle with TPMS control module. In case of using any unspecified tire and wheel without tire pressure sensor, TPMS control module flashes ON and OFF the low tire pressure warning light.
- In case of using the specified tire and wheel with tire pressure sensor, register its tire pressure sensor code with TPMS control module after its installation on the vehicle.
Tightening torque
Wheel nut (a): 85 Nm (8.5 kgf-m, 61.5 lbf-ft)
