Clockspring Assembly / Spiral Cable: Testing and Inspection

SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEMS: SPIRAL CABLE (for Hatchback): INSPECTION

1. INSPECT SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY

NOTICE:
* Do not remove the steering sensor from the spiral cable sub-assembly (w/ VSC).
* If there is a malfunction in the steering sensor, replace the spiral cable sub-assembly with steering sensor (w/ VSC).

(a) If there are any defects as mentioned below, replace the spiral cable sub-assembly with a new one:

* Scratches, cracks, dents or chips on the connector or the spiral cable sub-assembly.

(b) Inspect the spiral cable sub-assembly.

(1) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

NOTICE:
To avoid breaking the spiral cable sub-assembly, do not turn the spiral cable sub-assembly more than necessary.

Standard Resistance:





If the value is not within the specified range, replace the spiral cable sub-assembly.
