Side Air Bag: Service and Repair

Driver's/Front Passenger's Side Airbag, Removing And Installing







1 - Side airbag, driver's/front passenger's
2 - Bolt
- 7 Nm (62 in.lb)
3 - Connector
4 - Backrest frame

Removing

- Disconnect battery Ground strap.
- Remove driver's or front passenger's seat (use adapter VAG 5094).
- Remove backrest frame and release backrest cover in area of airbag -1-.
- Remove bolts -2-
- Disconnect connector -3- from airbag unit -1-.
- Remove airbag unit -1- from backrest frame -4-.

Installing

- After installing all components switch ignition on.
- Close doors.
- Connect battery Ground strap.


WARNING!
Ensure that there is no person inside the vehicle during this operation.


NOTE:
- After reconnecting the battery, check operation of vehicle equipment (radio, clock, electric windows) per Repair manual/Owner's manual.
- After reconnecting the battery, create the readiness code of the ECM again.
