Anti-Lock Brake System Overview







1 Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) hydraulic unit -N55-
• Located in the right side plenum chamber.
The hydraulic unit consists of the following components:
• ABS hydraulic pump -V64-
• Valve block (contains the in/outlet valves).
• From 11.06 with brake pressure sensor -G201-
• Hydraulic Unit and Brake Booster/Master Cylinder Overview location => [ Hydraulic Unit and Brake Booster/Master Cylinder Overview ] Locations
2 ABS control module (w/Electronic Differential Lock (EDL) -J104-
• Located at the hydraulic unit on right side of plenum chamber.
3 Brake pressure sensor -G201-
• Through calendar week 48/06 located on the brake master cylinder
• From 11.06 in the ABS hydraulic unit -N55-
• Hydraulic Unit and Brake Booster/Master Cylinder Overview location => [ Hydraulic Unit and Brake Booster/Master Cylinder Overview ] Locations
4 Brake booster pressure sensor -G294- => [ Brake System Vacuum Pump Assembly Overview ] See Image Below.
• Only installed on vehicles with a gas engine and automatic transmission.
• Located in the vacuum hose to brake booster.
5 Brake system vacuum pump -V192- => [ Brake System Vacuum Pump Assembly Overview ] See Image Below.
• Only installed on vehicles with a gas engine and automatic transmission.
• Located in the right front engine compartment
6 Accelerated Slip Regulation/Electronic Stabilization Program (ASR/ESP) control -K155-
• Located in the instrument cluster.
7 ABS warning lamp -K47-
• Located in the instrument cluster.

8 - Brake system warning lamp -K118-
• Located in the instrument cluster.

9 - ASR/ESP button -E256-
• Located in the center console.

10 - ESP sensor unit -G419- => [ ESP sensor unit ] See Image Below.
Integrated with the following in one housing under the center console:
• Transverse Acceleration Sensor -G200-

• Rotation Rate Sensor -G202-

• Longitudinal Acceleration Sensor -G251-


11 - Steering angle sensor -G85-
• Located on the steering column between steering wheel and steering column switch.

12 - Data Link Connector (DLC)
• Located in driver footwell.

13 - Brake light switch -F- and Brake pedal switch -F47- => [ Brake light switch and Brake pedal switch ] See Image Below.
• Vehicle from 11.06 do not have a brake light switch. The signal is generated by the brake pressure sensor 1 -G201- and brake pressure release solenoid -F84-

14 - Right front ABS wheel speed sensor -G45- or Left front ABS wheel speed sensor -G47- => [ Front Wheel Speed Sensor ] See Image Below.

15 - Wheel bearing and hub unit
• The ABS sensor ring is installed in the wheel bearing.

16 - Right rear ABS wheel speed sensor -G44- and Left rear ABS wheel speed sensor -G46- => [ Rear Wheel Speed Sensor ] See Image Below.

17 - Wheel bearing and hub unit
• The ABS sensor ring is installed in the wheel bearing.

Note:
• Vehicles from 11.06 do not have a brake light switch. The signal is
generated by the brake pressure sensor 1 -G201- and brake pressure release
solenoid -F84-.
