Expansion valve, servicing

Observe notes --> [ A/C Refrigerant System ] A/C Refrigerant System





1 Bolts

12 Nm

2 Refrigerant lines on expansion valve

3 O-ring

13.7 mm; 2.5 mm

4 Expansion valve

Removing

- Evacuate refrigerant circuit using refrigerant recycling/recovery unit Kent-Moore ACR4 (or UL approved equivalent)

CAUTION!
Frostbite danger!

High pressure refrigerant may leak out if refrigerant circuit is not discharged.

Always evacuate refrigerant prior to opening refrigerant circuit.

- Remove bolts --> [ 1 Bolts ] and disconnect refrigerant lines --> [ 2 Refrigerant lines on expansion valve ] from expansion valve.

- Remove bolts --> [ 8 Combination bolt ] and remove expansion valve.

Installing

- Install in reverse order of removal, noting the following:

- Charge refrigerant circuit using refrigerant recycling/recovery unit Kent-Moore ACR4 (or UL approved equivalent)

Capacities --> [ A/C Refrigerant System Capacities ] [1][2]Capacity Specifications

5 O-ring

14 mm; 1.82 mm

Coat with refrigerant oil when installing

6 O-ring

10.8 mm; 1.82 mm

Coat with refrigerant oil when installing

7 O-ring

9.5 mm; 2.5 mm

8 Combination bolt

5 Nm

Expansion Valve, Function

The expansion valve restricts and controls refrigerant flow to the evaporator thus lowering refrigerant temperature and pressure.
