Parking Brake Lever: Service and Repair

Pedal Parking Brake Lever

Removing

- Remove the driver side trim panel.

- Disconnect connector from the contact switch for the parking brake.

- Remove the left fuse panel and lay it aside as far as possible together with the wiring harness.

- Remove the plastic cover from the parking brake lever.

- Press the spring plate for the release spring - arrow A - downward in order to compress the spring for the cable compensation - arrow B -.





- Hold the spring - arrow B - compressed.

- Secure the compressed spring by sliding a drill bit - arrow - through the holes of the foot operated parking brake lever and through the linked cable mounting.





- Unhook the brake cable - A - from the cable mounting - 1 - of the foot operated parking brake lever.





- Unclip the cable sleeve - 2 - from the mount.

- Remove both parking brake lever bolts.

- Remove the foot operated parking brake lever from the mount.

Installing

- Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal.

- Remove the transport protection device (drill bit) from the foot operated parking brake lever.

There will be an automatic length compensation of the brake cable caused by the spring.
