Towing Module: Service and Repair

Towing Recognition Control Module (J345)

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Trailer Socket Tester (VAS 5800)

• Power Outlet Tester (V.A.G 1537/A) *

• The same procedure is used to remove and install the towing recognition control module made by Westfalia and Hella. The procedure is only described for one version.

Removal

- Turn off the ignition and all electric consumers and remove the key.

- Remove right luggage compartment trim.

• The number of connectors - arrows - on the towing recognition control module - 1 - may differ from the illustration depending on vehicle equipment and/or manufacturer.






- Disengage connectors - arrows - and disconnect them from towing recognition control module.

- Remove mounting bolt - 1 - and remove towing recognition control module upward out of bracket.

Installation

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

• After installing a new towing recognition control module (only modules from Westfalia), it must be coded. Refer to => [ Towing Recognition Control Module, (only Westfalia), Coding ] Programming and Relearning.
