EP. Fault code 3-1-1 Regina

3-1-1 No speedometer signal



Conditions for fault code:
If the engine speed is above 2100 rpm, the load signal corresponds to partial load and the control unit does not receive any signal from the speedometer for 8 seconds then a fault code is set.

Causes of:
Breakage or short circuit to ground in the wire from the combined instrument.
Breakage or short circuit to ground in the wire between the combined instrument and sensor.

Fault symptoms:
None.

Checking of speedometer
Check that the speedometer shows a reasonable value when the car is driven.

If the value is reasonable:
^ Connection of measurement box EP2.

If an unreasonable value is shown:
^ Check the wires and sensor in the rear axle.

Connect the measurement box to Regina and check the chassis connections according to N1-N2. N. Measurement Box, Signal Description
^ Continue with Checking of signal from speedometer EP3

Checking of signal from speedometer.
- Connect the control unit to the measurement box.
- Insert fuse no.1.
- Lift up the car so the rear wheels are free off the ground.
- Ignition on.
Connect a voltmeter between #34 and #5 (ground).
Slowly turn one rear wheel and at the same time read the voltmeter.
The voltmeter reading should swing between high (battery voltage) and low voltage (less than 1.5 volts).

If the value is OK:
Intermittent fault.
^ Check the connectors throughout the circuit for signs of loose connections according to CD. CD. Checking of Wiring

If there is a different value:
^ Checking the wire leading to the speedometer EP4.

Checking the wire leading to the speedometer.
- Ignition off.
- Remove fuse no.1.
- Disconnect the control unit from the measurement box.
Connect an ohmmeter between #34 and #5 (ground)
The ohmmeter should show infinite resistance

If the value differs:
^ Check the wiring between the combined instrument and #34 for signs of short circuit to ground according to CD. CD. Checking of Wiring

Connect an ohmmeter between #34 and connector E, at the rear of the combined instrument.
The ohmmeter should show approx. 0 ohms.

If the result differs:
^ Check the wiring between the combined instrument and #34 for breakage according to CD. CD. Checking of Wiring
