DTC 1-4-4
FC. Fault code 1-4-4 Rex-I
* 1-4-4 No load signal from fuel system
Conditions for fault code:
In the partial load range, a load signal test is carried out twice per engine revolution.
If the load signal is constantly high or low, fault code 1-4-4 is set.
Fault causes:
- Open or snort-circuit to ground in the cable between the Regina #25 and Rex-I #8
- Defective Regina control module.
- Open circuit in power supply to fuel injection system control module.
Fault symptoms:
Engine lacks power, stalls does not start or runs jerkily.
REGINA #25 Load signal to REX missing
REX #8 Load signal from Regina missing
Conditions for fault message:
Measurement of load signal carried out at 200 ms. If voltage has not exceeded approx. 2.5 V during this period, the fault message is stored. Measurement is not carried out if the condition for fuel shut-off is met, that is to say engine speed is above 2200 rpm and subsequently remains above 1100 rpm while the idle switch is on.
Causes of fault and fault symptoms.
See above.
FC1
Connection of measurement box to Rex-I
Connect measurement box to Rex-I and check the chassis connection according to N3-N4. N. Measurement Box, Signal Description
^ Continue with Checking of load signal for Rex-I FC2
FC2
Checking Rex-I load signal
- Connect engine control module (ECM) to breakout box.
- Install fuse 1.
- Start engine and run up to operating temperature.
- Connect a voltmeter between #8 and #20 (ground).
The voltmeter should read approx. 90 mV (AC) when the engine is idling at operating temperature.
If reading is OK:
Intermittent fault.
^ Check the terminals for loose connections according to CD. CD. Checking of Wiring
^ Try a new fuel injection relay.
If reading is incorrect:
^ Checking resistance of cable to ground FC3.
FC3
Checking the wire's resistance to ground
- Ignition off.
- Remove fuse no.1.
- Disconnect both control units.
Connect an ohmmeter between #8 and #20 (ground).
The ohmmeter should show infinite resistance.
If the value is OK:
^ Connection of measurement box to Regina FC4
If the value differs:
^ Check the wire between the control units for short circuit to ground according to CD. CD. Checking of Wiring
FC4
Connection of measurement box to Regina
Connect the measurement box to Regina and check the chassis connections according to N1-N2. N. Measurement Box, Signal Description
^ Continue with Checking of load signal for Regina FC5
FC5
Checking Regina load signal
- Connect Rex-I control module.
- Connect Regina control module to the breakout box.
- Install fuse 1.
- Start engine.
Connect a voltmeter between #25 and #5 (ground).
The voltmeter should read approx. 90 mV (AC) when the engine is idling.
If reading is OK:
^ Check cable between control modules for an open-circuit according to CD. CD. Checking of Wiring
If reading is incorrect:
^ Try a new Regina control module.
