DTC 3-1-1
EN. Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) 3-1-1 MFI LH 2.4
3-1-1 Speedometer signal absent.
DTC conditions
If the engine speed Is over 2100 rpm, the load signal Is In the part-load range and the control module does not receive a signal from the speedometer for B seconds the DTC Is logged.
Causes of fault:
Break or grounding in the wiring from the combination instrument
Break or grounding in the wiring between the combination instrument and the sensor.
Fault symptoms:
Idling problems.
EN1
Checking the speedometer
Check that the speedometer works while the car is being driven.
If the speedometer is working:
^ Connect the test box EN2.
If the speedometer does not work:
^ Check the the wiring and the sensor in the rear axle.
EN2
Connecting the test box
Connect the test box to MFI and check the GND points in accordance with P1-P2. P. Test Box, Signal Description
^ Continue with Checking the signal from speedometer EN3.
EN3
Checking the signal from speedometer
- Connect the control module to the test box.
- Install fuse 1 (or 31).
- Raise the car so that the rear wheels (tires and trim) are clear of the ground.
- Ignition on.
Connect a voltmeter between #34 and #5 (GND).
Slowly turn one of the rear wheels while taking a reading from the voltmeter.
The voltmeter reading should fluctuate between high (battery voltage) and low voltage (less than 1.5 volt).
If this value is OK:
Intermittent fault.
^ Check the connections throughout the circuit for loose contacts in accordance with NA5. NA. Checking the Wiring
If the reading is incorrect:
^ Check the resistance to GND of the wiring EN4.
EN4
Checking the resistance to GND of the wiring
- Ignition off.
- Remove fuse 1 (or 31).
- Disconnect the control module from the test box
Connect an ohmmeter between #34 and #5 (GND).
The ohmmeter should read infinite resistance.
If this value is OK:
^ Check the speedometer wiring EN5.
If the reading is Incorrect:
^ Check the wiring between the combination instrument and #34 for grounding in accordance with NA3. NA. Checking the Wiring
EN5
Checking the speedometer wiring
Connect an ohmmeter between #34 and terminal E, at the rear of the combination instrument.
The ohmmeter should read approx. 0 ohms.
If this value is OK:
Intermittent fault.
^ Check the connections for loose contacts in accordance with NA5. NA. Checking the Wiring
If the reading is incorrect:
^ Check the wiring between the combination instrument and #34 for breaks In accordance with NA2. NA. Checking the Wiring
