Antenna: Service and Repair

Rear Side Window Aerial Repair Procedure:

NOTE:
- Use Repair kit Volvo part no.: 1161441
- Repair is not possible if break in metal wire is greater than 2 mm. If break is greater than 2 mm, replace rear side window.





- Establish exactly where the break is visually or by using an ohmmeter on the metal wire. (Ohmmeter should read infinite resistance if there is an open-circuit).





- Scrape the metal wire bare carefully on each side of glass with a knife (1). Now clean repair site on window with window cleaner (2).





- Install masking tape with cut over metal wire. If metal wire is narrower than the cut in the tape, split tape and adjust width of masking tape.





- Coat metal wire with repair paste 3 times at 5 minute intervals. Apply approx. 5 mm each side of break.

NOTE: Shake repair paste container well before use. Use thinner when cleaning.





- Let repair paste dry for approx. 30 minutes, then remove masking tape.
