Auxiliary Cabin Heater Housing: Service and Repair
Replacing heat exchanger
Removing
Removing bumper
Remove:
- splash guard under engine.
- clips under bumper (2x).
- fender mounting (2x Self-tapping screws).
Remove:
- bumper mounting on the splash guard (2x Self-tapping screws).
- the four screws to the brace on the bottom section.
- connectors for the fog lamp, horn, turn indicator assemblies and headlamp wiper.
Raise the headlamp wiper arm.
Remove:
- headlamp washer hose at the T connector.
- bumper.
Engine coolant hoses
Install hose clamps on both the engine coolant hoses by the heat exchanger.
Position a container under the heater.
Disconnect hoses.
Removing heat exchanger
Warning! Protective gloves and protective goggles should be used for the following operations because of the risk of fuel spillage.
Disconnect the fuel line from the fuel pump. Install a rubber plug.
Separate the connector (gray) at the fuel pump (FP).
Remove the three screws holding the heater.
Remove the heater and drain any remaining fuel.
Installation
Install in reverse order.
Final check
Test the heater. Check the heater function according to Test running the additional heater / parking heater Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview.
Check for leakage at both coolant hoses and fuel lines.
Top up the coolant if necessary.
Check that no diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) have been stored during the repair work.
