Connecting the breakout box to the climate control module

- Ignition off
- Expose the climate control module. See Comfort module Removal and Replacement
- Check the control module and control module connectors to ensure that the male and female terminals are undamaged and secure (cannot be pressed in). Check that the cables to the female terminals are secured to the terminal pins
- In particular, check the terminal pins relevant to the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) / symptom. See Climate control signal specifications Signal Specification
- Connect adapter 981 3194 Replaced by 9511495 981 3194 Replaced by 951 1495 to the control module connectors (wiring side). Connect breakout box 951 1428 Breakout box 951 1428 Breakout Box to the adapter
- The breakout box is designed to facilitate reading off the control module input and output signals when the control module is connected; and cable and component resistance when the control module is disconnected. The use of a breakout box reduces the risk of accidental short-circuits and damage to the connector pins.

Hint: Control module terminals #A1-#A30 correspond to terminals #1-#30 on the breakout box. Control module terminals #B1-#B16 correspond to terminals #31-#46 on the breakout box.
