Fuel Injector: Service and Repair






Injector(s), replacing

Removal

Draining the fuel system
- Drain the fuel injection system. See Draining the fuel injection system Draining the Fuel Injection System.

Preparatory work




Disconnect the quick-release connector for the fuel line.
Wipe up any fuel spillage.
Disconnect the fuel line from the clamps.
Compress the clip. Pull out the fuel line.

Cover and connectors, removing




- Disconnect the connectors for the injector(s)
- Remove the cable harness for the cable clips from the bracket.

Hoses and screws, removing




- Remove the screws holding the fuel rail. Lift out the fuel distributor with the injectors still secured in place
- Disconnect the vacuum hose from the intake manifold.

Note! Handle the injectors carefully so that they are not damaged.

Note! Retain all the rubber bushings for the intake manifold.

Locking plates for injectors, removing




Pull out the clips, one from each nozzle.
Remove the injectors with a twisting motion. Clean the outside.

Installation

Injector(s), installing




Note! Use new O-rings (A). Lubricate O-rings (A) with petroleum jelly.

- Install the injectors in the fuel rail
- Install the clips, one on each nozzle.

Note! Use new O-rings. Lubricate the O-rings using petroleum jelly.

- Clean the intake manifold
- Connect the vacuum hose to the intake manifold
- Secure the fuel rail on the intake manifold
- Apply locking fluid (P/N 116 1053) to the screws
- Tighten the screws. Tighten to 10 Nm
- Connect the connectors to the injector(s). Check that all the connectors have rubber seals. Secure the cables in their cable holders
- Secure the fuel line. Pull the fuel line to check that it is secure
- Reconnect all hoses
- Check that all terminals are secure. Check the function
- Install the throttle body cover.

Pump trolley, removing
