Checking Fuel Tank System

WARNING: First read Safety regulations for handling a fuel.

HINT: The fault may be due to leakage in the fuel tank, fuel filler pipe, fuel tank filler cap, carbon filter container, evaporative emission system (EVAP) valve, leak diagnostic unit or in the hoses between these components.

- Ignition off.
- Pressurize the tank system to locate any leaks. See Test pressurizing the tank system.

When the fuel tank system is pressurized:

Check the fuel tank system for leakage by spraying soap solution on the components for the fuel tank system, such as the tank, fuel filler pipe, fuel tank filler cap, evaporative emission system (EVAP) valve, carbon filter container and the hoses and hose terminals between these components.

Remedy as necessary.

Reinstall components, hoses etc.

If no leakage can be found in the fuel tank system after the above checks and corrective action but the fault remains after the quick test, the leak diagnostic unit may be defective.

Run a quick test of the fuel tank system after the above checks and corrective action to check if the fault is still present.
