Throttle Body: Service and Repair






Replacing the throttle body (electronic throttle module)

Removal

Preparation
Remove the cable from the battery negative terminal. First read Battery, disconnecting Battery Disconnecting.




Remove the intake manifold between the front cover plate and air cleaner (ACL) housing.
Disconnect the hose between the turbocharger (TC) and the charge air cooler (CAC) at its upper end. Push the hose to one side.




Disconnect the hoses for the bypass valve.




Disconnect the boost pressure sensor connectors and the charge air temperature sensor from the pipe between the charge air cooler and the throttle.




Remove the pipe between the throttle and the charge air cooler.

Removing the throttle body (TB)




Disconnect the throttle body (TB) connector.
Remove the mounting screws from the throttle body (TB). Lift up the throttle body (TB).

Installation

Installing the throttle body (TB)




Clean the mating surfaces thoroughly.
Install the throttle body (TB). Use a new gasket. Tighten to 10 Nm.
Connect the throttle body (TB) connector.

Finishing

Install:
- the pipe between the charge air cooler (CAC) and the throttle
- the boost pressure sensor connectors and the charge air temperature sensor from the pipe between the charge air cooler and the throttle body (TB)
- the hoses to the bypass valve
- the hose between the charge air cooler (CAC) and the turbocharger (TC)
- the intake manifold between the front cover plate and the air cleaner (ACL) housing.
Reconnect the battery negative lead. First read Battery, disconnecting Battery Disconnecting.

Note! After replacing the throttle unit, the throttle unit must be adapted using the vehicle communication input: "Adaptation of the electronic throttle unit". Remedy as necessary.
